Tariq Ali is a British-Pakistani historian, novelist, filmmaker, political campaigner, and commentator who regularly contributes to The Guardian, New Left Review and the London Review of Books. An iconic figure of the Sixties he had songs written for him by Mick Jagger and John Lennon.

He is the author of over twenty books that include history, politics and fiction. He has written scripts for both stage and screen and produced films and documentaries. His latest books:  The Duel: Pakistan on the Flight Path of American Power was published in 2008 and Protocols of the Elders of Sodom, 2009.
